The Gospel of John Chapter 6 Verses 39 thru 47
39 And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it [on] the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him [on] the last day.” 41 The Jews murmured about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,” 42 and they said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop murmuring* among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets: ‘They shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.”
In John 6:39-47, Jesus reveals profound truths about the divine will and the promise of eternal life through Him. He emphasizes that His mission aligns perfectly with the Father’s purpose: “And this is the will of Him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given me, but raise it up on the last day” (John 6:39). This verse stresses the importance of seeking God's will in every aspect of our lives, reminding us that our journey of faith must be anchored in our relationship with the Father.
To truly be taught by God, we must cultivate a disposition of openness and readiness to understand His ways. This entails actively seeking His guidance in our decisions, trusting that He has a plan for us that leads to fulfillment and eternal life. In the process, we are called to recognize the transformative presence of Christ in the Eucharist, where He gives Himself fully as the Bread of Life. In verse 47, Jesus assures us, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.”
This eternal life is not merely a distant hope but a present reality accessible to all who partake in the Eucharist. As we consume the Body and Blood of Christ, we are united with Him, filled with grace, and fortified in our faith journey. The Eucharist becomes a profound encounter, a moment when we experience Christ’s everlasting love and presence among us.
In reflecting on these passages, let us remember to seek God’s will continuously, find solace in His presence, especially in the Eucharist, and embrace the abundant life He promises. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. 05-07-25 John 6 v3947
**They Shall be Taught by God**
In the quiet of the sacred night,
He speaks of love, a guiding light,
“I lose not one,” His voice declares,
The Father’s will, a truth that bears.
In every prayer, a humble plea,
To know His heart, the path to see,
We seek His will in joy or strife,
In moments small, the gift of life.
The Bread we break, His body whole,
A mystery that eternally feeds the soul,
In His embrace, we find our home,
In every heart, He bids us roam.
“Eternal life,” the promise bright,
In Him we dwell, through darkest night,
With faith we rise, His love our song,
United in Him, where we belong.
So let us come, with hearts awed wide,
To seek His will, in Him we bide,
For in the Eucharist, we truly find,
The bread of life, His love entwined. Amen.
