The Gospel of John Chapter 6 Verses 25 thru 29
25 And when they found him across the sea they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” 26 Jesus answered them and said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.” 28 So they said to him, “What can we do to accomplish the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”
In John 6:25-29, we encounter a pivotal moment in Jesus' ministry where He clarifies what it means to accomplish the works of God. After the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, the crowd seeks Jesus, hoping for more physical sustenance. However, He redirects their focus from physical bread to spiritual nourishment, emphasizing that the true bread from heaven grants eternal life.
In verse 29, Jesus answers the crowd's inquiry about performing the works of God with a profound statement: "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." This declaration is central to our understanding of faith and salvation. It isn't about mere actions or rituals; rather, it's about a deep, transformative belief in Jesus as the Christ—the Son of God who came to redeem humanity.
To accomplish the works of God, we are called not only to believe in Jesus but to share that belief with others. This involves witnessing to His nature as the Christ and acknowledging His role as the source of eternal life. Our testimony, grounded in the reality of who Jesus is, serves as a bridge for others to experience the same grace we've received.
As followers of Christ, it is imperative that we embody this message of faith and life. We must communicate the significance of believing in Jesus, who declared Himself the Bread of Life (John 6:35). In sharing Jesus as the way to eternal life, we fulfill the works of God by reflecting His love and truth to a world in need.
In conclusion, to accomplish the works of God, we must believe in Christ and actively share that belief. Our relationship with Him not only transforms us but also empowers us to reach others with the life-giving message of His salvation. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. **The Work of God is to Believe**
In a crowd that sought the bread,
A miracle, they sought and spread,
Yet Jesus spoke with gentle grace,
“True sustenance is found in faith’s embrace.”
“Work of God,” He declared so clear,
“Believe in Him whom you hold dear,
The One who came from heaven’s height,
Eternal life, your guiding light.”
No earthly feast can satisfy,
The hunger deep, the longing high,
But in His love, we find our way,
In Jesus Christ, our hope will stay.
So let us share this truth profound,
In every heart, His love abound,
To trust in Him, our sacred role,
The Bread of Life, He fills the soul. Amen.
